GREELEY, COLORADO
The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) is a coeducational public university located in the suburban city of Greeley, Colorado. For 2005, the enrollment totaled 10,047 undergraduates and 2,345 postgraduates with a faculty of 412. UNC is also a Doctoral Research university.

The University is organized into five colleges: the College of Education and Behavioral Science, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the College of Natural and Health Sciences, the College of Performing and Visual Arts, and the Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business. UNC's most distinguished and recognized programs are its teacher education programs and its School of Music. The School of Music features award-winning programs in Music Education and Jazz Studies, and has one of the first full-scale music technology centers in the country.

UNC's athletic teams are nicknamed the Bears, and are almost finished the transition process of moving from NCAA's Division II to Division I and I-AA for football. On July 1, 2006, UNC joined the Big Sky Conference. Prior to that, UNC has won national championships in football in both 1996 and 1997 while a member of NCAA's Division II North Central COnference as well as in Rugby in 2005 as a member of the USA Rugby Division II West Rugby Football Union. Many other sports have picked up conference championships as well.

Notable UNC alumni include playwright Steven Dietz, jazz guitarist Bill Frisell, actor Greg Germann, football players Vincent Jackson and Dirk Johnson, author James A. Michener, Lieutenant General Carol Mutter, Grammy winning hornist Marian Hesse, form WB2 news anchor Tamara Banks, Congressman Tom Tancredo, and science fiction author Connie Willis.
