Healthy payroll growth in December
December proved to be a slow month for employment numbers due to the holiday season and festivities, but still saw slight increase in jobs nonetheless. The labor forced ends the year on a high note with almost 143 million jobs, an increase in almost 3 million more jobs from last year.
The biggest winners? Not surprisingly, the Business sector enjoyed a prosperous season which shows in their 33,000 job increase over November. The two top contenders in this market were Finance and Accounting, totalling up to almost half of that figure.
Health care also enjoyed an increase in employment with 21,100 new jobs.
